Crew of the Week - 2013

Did your crew or a crew you know of have a great race over the weekend? Nominate them for row2k's first "Crew of the Week" poll for 2013.

Nominations must be submitted by 5PM EDT on Tuesday. row2k will then select the finalists for poll voting until Thursday at 5pm. The crew with the most votes will be recognized as row2k's "Crew of the Week."

Nomination criteria in 50 words or less:

  • Convince row2k that your crew executed an exceptional race or overcame difficult conditions and or opponent to win.
  • row2k will select crews from the following categories for the poll.
    • College Men's Heavyweight
    • College Women's Openweight
    • College Lightweight
    • Junior
    • Club/Masters/Elite
  • Only a crew's performance during the previous week will be taken into account during selection.
  • Any crew that wins "Crew of the Week" will be excluded for the rest of the season.

    • Winner - Sarasota Junior Men's 8+ - Led wire to wire in the A Final at youth nationals to win the national championship.

  • June 4
    • Winner - Washington Men - Swept the IRA in the five men's heavyweight events for the second year in a row.

    • Finalists - California Women's Varsity 8+, Nova Southeastern Women, Ohio State Women, Stanford Lightweight Women's Varsity 8+, Williams Women's Varsity 8+
  • May 29
    • Winner - James Madison HS Women's Varsity 8+ - Capped off their unbeaten season by winning the SRAA Championship.

    • Finalists - College of Charleston Men's 2x, Exeter Men's Varsity 8+, Harriton HS Women's Varsity 4+, Michigan Men's Varsity 8+, Seattle University Men's 2-
  • May 22
    • Winner - Episcopal Academy - Team lost the 3-man of their Senior 4+ Paul Pratt in a fatal car accident the night before the start of the Stotesbury Regatta. They chose to race in honor of Paul and won the bronze medal in the event while the LM2x won gold.

    • Finalists - Boston University Women's Varsity 8+, California Men's Varsity 4+, Cornell Lightweight Men's Second Varsity 8+, Gonzaga Women's Varsity 8+, Navy Women's Varisty 8+, Notre Dame Women, Oklahoma Women
  • May 15
    • Winner - Drexel Men - Won the team title at the Dad Vail Regatta which consisted of wins in the the Varsity 8+, Freshmen 8+, and Varsity 2-, as well as a silver medal in the 2nd Varsity 8+.

    • Finalists - Albemarle Junior Men's Varsity 4x, Bowdoin Women's Varsity 4+, Delaware Men's Lightweight Varsity 8+,
  • May 8
    • Winner - Georgetown Lightweight Women's Varsity 8+ - Crew won their first medal at Sprints since 2009 (bronze) following a chaotic spring that saw their coach leave the program two weeks before the start of the Spring racing season.

  • May 1
    • Winner - Columbia Women's Varsity 8+ - The 17th ranked Lions beat no. 9 Brown and no 15. Cornell to win the Varsity 8+ event in the Dunn Bowl for the first time in program history.

    • Finalists - Kate Bertko, Sammamish Men's Varsity 8+, UC Irvine Men's Varsity 8+, Washington Women's Varsity 8+, Yale Women's Varsity 8+
  • April 24
    • Winner - Columbia Lightweight Men's Varsity 8+ - The sixth ranked Lions defeated #3 Cornell and #5 Dartmouth over the weekend.

    • Finalists - Florida Women's Novice 8+, Florida Tech Men's Varisty 8+, Harvard-Radcliffe Lightweight Women's Varsity 8+, Northeastern Men's Varsity 8+, Ohio State Women's Second Varsity 8+
  • April 17
    • Winner - MIT Women's Varsity 8+ - Defeated GW by 0.75s, St. Joe's by 5s, and Georgetown by 0.5s at the GW Invite with the the GW and Georgetown wins coming from behind in the last 500 meters.
    • Voting Results
    • Finalists - Barry Women's Varsity 8+, Cornell Lightweight Men, Drexel Heavyweight Men, Radcliffe Women's Varsity 8+, Wisconsin Women's Lightweight Freshmen 8+
  • April 10
    • Winner - Delaware Men's Lightweight Freshmen 8+ - Crew has gone undefeated to start the spring, defeating Georgetown, Harvard, MIT, Columbia, and Dartmouth.

    • Finalists - Marin Rowing Club, Miami Women's Varsity 8+, OAR Northwest, UC-Santa Barbara Men's Varsity 8+, USC Women
